Our Story, Philosophy & Mission

Costumein was born in Naples in 2004, thanks to the great know-how handed down over the years, from generation to generation by the Adamo family, a history of knowledge aimed at the creation of shirts, respecting the highest standards of production and quality.

The first collection is entirely dedicated to men's shirts, respecting the parameters of excellence of artisanal workmanship, taking the utmost care in the choice of materials, and mixing tradition with cutting-edge technologies, washing techniques and innovative fabric manipulations, a new concept of shirt designed to represent Made in Italy and its new interpretations.

Over the seasons we have evolved our wardrobe, to better meet the growing needs of customers, and the creative needs of the brand, to present increasingly complete collections year after year, which embrace most of the product segments, without ever changing the spirit of our work.

Every evolution has never taken its eyes off our cornerstones.

Our aim, and greatest ambition, is to free the "classic formal" way of dressing from imposed rules, proposing a new way of understanding formality, free from solemn and rigorous canons. We want to introduce a contemporary vision of the iconic garments that have marked the male wardrobe, modifying their design, structure, proportions and shapes.

We can create timeless garments, which will live and adapt to our changes, translating the aesthetic canons and details of traditional tailoring into a freer key and more elastic rules, taking maximum care in the research of materials, the care and study of contemporary modelling constructions, up to the great work on the choice of colour palettes.

Our ideas translate into collections with a strong identity, through visually striking garments, with excellent wearability, refined in construction, harmonies and artisanal production with top-quality materials.

In the SS21 collection Costumein meets the paintings of French painter Julie Perrin.

Born in Suresnes in 1969, she studied drawing and plastic arts at the Blacheath and Camberwell Art School in London before specializing in painting at the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston.

Since 2005, Julien’s painting has been aimed at narrating nature, silent and still, which invites us to question our place in our environment, considering our reality and our imagination. At the same time, he began to work with high-end jewelry brands, creating collections that therefore bear the signature of his thought and design.

It is precisely for these characteristics and affinities that Costumein decides to undertake a collaboration with Perrin. The most interesting challenge was to technically recreate Perrin's paintings on fabric, managing to simultaneously respect the characteristics of the painting, the brand design and the proportions of the body.

The works met the world of Costumein giving life to a unique and limited edition sartorial collection, distributed only in the best Italian boutiques.
